At Startup Weekend Monterey Bay, you'll be immersed in the ideal environment for startup magic to happen. Aspiring entrepreneurs will work together to build startups in one chaotic weekend. The ultimate hands-on learning experience, SWMB allows innovators from all disciplines team up for an intensive experience in building businesses.

Learn what it really takes to start a company. No book, panel, speaker, or blog post will teach you what you need to know. The only way to learn is the experience of trying.

It’s that simple. Startup Weekend is designed to get you going, FAST.

Cal State University Monterey Bay is proud to host Startup Weekend for the Monterey Bay region each January. This is the fifth year we have bought this global event to the Monterey Bay region.  Startup Weekend is part of the largest entrepreneurial community with over 193,00 past attendees a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs in over 150 countries who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures.

Friday January 27th

Registration
Arrive at the venue and get checked in

Overview of weekend
For first timers. Get some insight about how this weekend works and how to use your time to get the most out of it.


5:00 pm
Dinner & Networking
Eat food, share ideas, practice pitches, get to know fellow participants


7:00 pm
Welcome & Speakers
Review agenda for the weekend and introduce staff, coaches, and community leaders


7:30 pm
Pitches Start
Optionally line up to give your pitch


9:00 pm
Voting
Attendees vote for the top pitches


9:15 pm
Form Teams
Teams start forming and discussing ideas


10:00 pm
Begin Work
Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend.
