Speakers


Simon Stockley
Teaching Fellow in Entrepreneurship, Cambridge Judge Business School

Simon is a Teaching Fellow in Entrepreneurship at Cambridge Judge Business School and Deputy Director of Accelerate Cambridge, the School’s new enterprise accelerator. Prior to his recent appointment at Cambridge, Simon spent 10 years at Imperial College Business School as director of the full-time MBA programme and a principal teaching fellow. His MBA course in entrepreneurship was ranked 3rd in the world by the Financial Times. Outside work, Simon is a social entrepreneur and an advocate for trafficked women in which capacity he has advised Parliament. He holds several non-executive directorships and has advised well over 100 technology start-ups.

Mark Gibbons
EMEA CIO, BNY Mellon

Mark is the European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Chief Information Officer (CIO) for BNY Mellon.  Before joining BNY Mellon, Mark was at JP Morgan Chase for 8 years and was responsible for EMEA Middle Office Outsourcing Technology and IT Transformation.   Prior to joining two of the world's largest banks Mark was Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at FundsHub.com, a funds trading platform which was subsequently acquired by JP Morgan Chase.  He also helped established a Financial Products Division at Synamic Ltd, backed by venture capitalist 3i Group and bootstrapped his own Financial Services IT business which he successfully ran throughout the 90's. 


Susanne Chishti

Dominic Broom
Head of Sales & Relationship Management EMEA, Treasury Services, BNY Mellon

Dominic Broom is Head of Sales & Relationship Management, Treasury Services EMEA, responsible for the company’s Payment Services, Cash & Liquidity Management, FX, and Trade Finance solutions, in the EMEA region. Clients include banks, insurance companies, investment managers, hedge funds, brokerdealers, corporates and public sector institutions. Dominic joined BNY Mellon’s Treasury Services division, as Head of Trade Finance Sales Europe, in 2006, becoming Head of Treasury Services Business Development EMEA in 2008; before taking on his current role in 2011. He sits on the Extended EMEA Executive Committee, the EMEA Investment Services Committee and the EMEA Operating Committee.

Dominic has many years of experience in the transaction services field and is responsible for developing and marketing the company’s range of transaction banking services (including working capital solutions), across the EMEA region. He uses his broad knowledge of the transaction banking industry, to help shape the strategic direction of the business, and his team works with key stakeholders across the company, to develop solutions that will enhance the sector’s core business activities. As an acknowledged thought leader in the transaction banking field, Dominic is a frequent chairman of industry conferences and a regular contributor to leading industry publications.

Dominic began his career with Chase Manhattan Bank, on their MBA training programme, in 1994, after which he held various associate positions in the Client Management and Global Trade & Advisory teams, in both London and New York. Dominic moved to Warburg Dillon Read in London in 1997, where he held the position of Director, Structured Trade & Export Finance, with responsibility for Western Europe. After a period working for GE Capital’s European Equipment Finance division, Dominic moved to ABN AMRO in Amsterdam in 2003, as Director of Trade Sales Benelux, before returning to London, to build the Bank’s newly established Supply Chain Business, part of ABN AMRO’s Transaction Banking division.

Dominic holds an Honours Law Degree, from the University of London and a diploma in Advanced French from the University Catholique in Lyon, France.

Hanadi Jabado
Director, Accelerate Cambridge

Hanadi is passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation. She has founded and built businesses in several industries, including education, online retail and property, and has used her multicultural background and experience with new technologies to cofound Ecamb, a business accelerator aiming at helping entrepreneurs to succeed globally. Hanadi has driven the creation of Accelerate Cambridge, the new accelerator at the Cambridge Judge Business School, and is currently its director.Hanadi has been closely involved with over 100 start-ups over the globe and across industries over the last three years. Born in Lebanon and raised in France, she is fluent in English, French and Arabic and speaks another four languages. She lives in London with her four children.


Dario Parente
Managing Director

Dario Parente, Global Head of Corporate Trust Strategy, joined BNY Mellon in 2000. The strategy group is responsible for driving and executing on our global strategic vision, working closely with business leadership and partners to gather client insights while blending external market factors to develop client segment strategies.

He has over 14 years of experience in the securitization business with BNY Mellon. His tenure with the firm has included a variety of roles based in New York, London, and Germany covering business management, product development and strategy. Prior to his current role he was based in Frankfurt where he acted as General Manager for the local Corporate Trust team covering all German-speaking markets. Dario holds an MBA from Cass Business School and lives in London.


Dhiru Tanna
Vice President of BNY Mellon Treasury Services

Dhiru joined BNY Mellon in 2012 and is part of the Treasury Services Sales team covering EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is responsible for regional business acquisition and delivering value-add solutions to the Firm’s financial services, broker dealers and corporate clients.

Dhiru has more than 25 years’ financial services experience gained through international postings with increasingly senior positions in operations, IT, product management, product development, relationship management and sales. He holds an Economics degree from the University of Essex.


Anil Dala
Market Manager for Treasury Services, BNY Mellon

Anil Dala is responsible for the development and execution of the regional strategy for the NORDICS and the UK region. Anil recently delivered the strategic review of the UK’s Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) Market and is currently developing the Global strategy for the NBFI Segments.

Prior to his current role, Anil was responsible for the business development solution for Wealth and Advisor Segments of Pershing Ltd within the BNY Mellon Group.  Anil led the development and delivery of the Pershing Channel Islands Solution, the Nexus Loans products and the Offshore Bond Wrapper Network.

Anil joined BNY Mellon in 2007 from Barclays Wealth, where he initiated the design of the new banking solution for its Private Bank division. Prior to this Anil spent 15 years at Lloyds Banking Group, where as Head of Shareview Dealing for its Wealth Division, he delivered a number of marketing and client engagement initiatives. Anil also held middle and senior management positions at Lloyds TSB’s Personal Banking, Offshore Banking and Wealth Management divisions. 


Andrew Dunn

Andrew Dunn was a co-founder of Broca Networks, a Cambridge startup company providing innovative speech recognition services to dot.com companies in the UK. He headed the software development team, inspiring engineers to develop a novel framework for constructing speech recognition services and delivering solutions for notable customers like Lastminute.com.

Before that Andrew ran a software consulting company working with customers such as the New York Stock Exchange, Rover Cars, Royal Mail and SRI Consulting.

Most recently, Andrew managed the low level engineering team for XenServer, - the market leading server virtualization engine that powers the world's largest computing clouds. He is currently the Head of Engineering at Metail, another Cambridge startup who develop a virtual fitting room that allows users to create an online version of themselves that matches their real measurements to get size and fitting advice when buying clothes online. This involves a combination of front end web development, 3D visualization, and big data analysis.


Hazel Nolan
Innovation Specialist for BNY Mellon’s Global Innovation Team

Hazel Nolan is responsible for A.C.E., a global employee driven initiative and further innovation initiatives for the EMEA region.  Her previous roles in the company have been in Corporate Trust in Regulation and Structured Finance.

She has 16years experience in the Finance Industry during which time she has worked for HSBC, RBS, Barclays and BNP Paribas in Offshore Banking, Retail and High Net Worth Relationship Banking, Payment Operations, Cash Management and Security Settlements.

She is also a Best New StartUp Winner from the Cambridge StartUp Weekend, May 2014.


Thirumalairajan Subramaniam

Holding dual engineering degrees from India and General Management from University of Cambridge, Thiru Subramaniam is an accomplished software architect and technopreneur.

Hands on programmer with sincere belief in keeping software simple and intuitive.Loves developing high volume systems and has worked across plethora of technology stacks. Current interests include developing mobile applications.

In the past 12 years, Thiru has worked across UK, US, India and South Africa with clients like AT&T wireless, Lloyds bank, ABSA bank and J.P.Morgan on enterprise software development. In 2011, he founded Jayam ltd in London with the objective of helping startups build their Minimum Viable Product and also offering technical consultancy to major corporates. 

An avid traveller, a decent cook and immensely interested in experiencing different cultures.


Jamie McNaught

Graduating with an Honors Degree in Computing Science from the University of Strathclyde, Jamie interned with and became an Analyst at Goldman Sachs, training in New York and based in the Equities Trading Technology Team in London.
 
More recently he has worked in Mobile, Private Wealth Management, Fraud Detection and Big Data Analytics for firms and clients in the US, UK, South Africa and South Korea.
 
Jamie has been a Bitcoin enthusiast and user since late 2010, having mined, developed, hacked, argued and promoted it. His most recent startup, Solidi, helps people buy and sell digital currencies in the UK. He is keenly interested in the current FinTech revolution and the democratisation of access to financial systems both in the UK and across the globe.
 
Jamie works across a broad remit of technologies from Assembler and C to C++, Java, Python, PHP and NodeJS.


Francesco Bovoli
VP Products, import.io

  • Francesco (@francescobovoli) is the VP Products at import.io, his fourth start-up (two exits - two still running)
  • He has previously been at Workshare, IdeaPlane, Google, Cisco, Accenture, and Genetic
  • He's interested in anything Tech, Operations, Product, DevOps, Data Science, Social Media (and in a past life - heavy metal)
  • Francesco holds a MSc. in Computer Engineering from Bologna University and an MBA from Cambridge University, specialising in finance and entrepreneurship


  • Shiri Zilberman

    Shiri is an advisor, mentor and investor in the startup space. Shiri has over 15 years’ experience in the technology sector, in various roles including marketing, strategy and business development, project and product management. Currently Shiri is a business development manager at Broadcom – a fortune 500 technology company. Shiri has an engineering degree as well as an MBA (from Cambridge University). Shiri founded 2 companies: a failed payment app business and a moderately successful tea business.

    Shiri has been advising startups since 2011, helping companies achieve over $2m in seed funding. Shiri’s main interests are technology, mobile, biotech and fintech. 
    Shiri currently has 3 live investments and is a non-executive director of one of these.
