Ever wondered what it takes to be an entrepreneur?

The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.

The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!

Bringing the community together!

Coaches and Mentors

Antonio Morales
YouTube Technology Manager en Google

At the age of 8 I found a programming book at home. My life has gravitated around computers since. My first business, selling canary birds, helped me buy my first computer; and after that more business and computers followed. I got online for the first time in 1996 using InfoVia, and wrote my first web page following PC-World tutorials. In the second year of college, even if it was a 5-year program, I started my master's degree final project, awarded the Best Project. At the time I collaborated with the Web Team of my School. I met there a passionate, motivated and well prepared team with whom I started up my first company, intelligenia, about web development.I took the last courses for my Master's degree in the Swiss EPFL, where I did a second final project earning a distinction. After fully assuming the executive management and beat my head against a brick wall because of my lack of business management knowledge, I enrolled in a MBA program and graduated with First Class honors. A desire for innovation made me start-up again in the drone industry. A few crashes after I decided to shut down and went back to intelligenia, collaborating as technological partner in the starting up of several business ideas. Recently, I started in Google as Technology Manager for YouTube. Even so, I am still a shareholder of intelligenia, keeping a close relationship with the team and contributing where I can.
